We Got Rivianed (And We Kinda Loved It)

Calgary was begging for an adventure this Spring, and Will and I answered that call with a Rivian R1S test drive that blew our expectations (and probably our car budgets) out of the water.

Let's Talk Looks (And Accents), Folks

We got out of our cars and BAM! The R1S had us drooling. This SUV is the perfect mix of rugged and refined – like how we feel after a hike and a craft beer. Inside? Even better. Sustainable materials? Check. Giant sunroof? Double check. Sleek touchscreen? Obviously. This isn't any gas-guzzler, people; this is the future. Oh, and Drew, our guide? His accent (definitely British Isles, maybe a dash of Aussie?) was so charming that we could've listened to him describe tire treads for hours.

Choose Your Electric Adventure

The R1S isn't a one-trick pony. You've got powertrain options: the Dual-Motor for your daily life, the Performance Dual-Motor if speed is your middle name, or the Quad-Motor (which we were lucky enough to test) for those "OMG, did that SUV just go 0-60 in 3 seconds?" moments. Oh, and the range is legit, so those weekend mountain escapes are totally doable.

This Thing Was Built for Calgary

Behind the wheel, that instant electric torque had us grinning ear-to-ear. The R1S ate up the potholes (let's be real, Calgary isn't exactly known for pristine roads) and those off-road capabilities? Perfect for when the adventuring bug bites hard. Will blasted some Kanye (because test drive music matters), and the sound system? Nailed it! But I won't be repeating the lyrics here.

Okay, But Will It Fit My Kayak? (And Can I Buy a Hat?)

Turns out, the R1S isn't just about performance. Between the roomy interior, the 'frunk,' and those fold-flat seats, there's space for all the gear and all the people. Camp chairs? Bikes? A month's worth of groceries for that off-the-grid cabin? No problem. Only minor disappointment? No Rivian hats for sale on the spot! Turns out Drew's part-time status limits his Salesforce superpowers... a missed opportunity, for sure.

Hitting Us Where It Hurts (Our Wallets)

Listen, Rivians don't come cheap. BUT, if you're ready to ditch fossil fuels for good AND want a vehicle that can hang on any Alberta adventure, this is it. Personally? I'm already counting down the days until my 2026 R2 arrives. #WorthIt

We left Rivian Calgary feeling like converts. Drew could probably sell a Rivian to someone who lives in a van down by the river (and his charming accent wouldn't hurt).
